FOSSIL AMMONITES SAWN 1

Ammonites in the broad sense, or Ammonoidea, are an extinct subclass of cephalopod molluscs. They appear in the fossil record during the Devonian and disappear shortly after the Cretaceous-Paleocene crisis. They were characterized by a univalve shell more or less coiled of which only the last lodge was occupied by the animal, the other lodges being used to control its flotation; the siphon connecting them is in the external (ventral) position, along the wall, whereas it is axial in the nautiluses. Their fossil shells are excellent chronological markers. Their size ranges from a few millimetres to more than 2 meters in diameter.

FOSSIL PETRIFIED WOOD SMALL PIECES 1
Petrified wood (from the Latin root petro meaning “rock” or “stone”; literally “wood turned into stone”) is the name given to a special type of fossilized remains of terrestrial vegetation. Petrifaction is the result of a tree or tree-like plants having transitioned to stone by a mineralization process that often includes permineralization and replacement. The organic materials making up cell walls have been replicated with minerals (mostly a silicate, such as opal, chalcedony, or quartz). In some instances, the original structure of the stem tissue may be partly retained. Unlike other plant fossils, which are typically impressions or compressions, petrified wood is a three-dimensional representation of the original organic material.
The petrifaction process occurs underground, when wood becomes buried in water-saturated sediment or volcanic ash. During replacement, the plant’s cell walls act as a template for mineralization.  Most of the organic matter often decomposes, however some of the lignin may remain. Silica in the form of Opal-A, can encrust and permeate wood relatively quickly in hot spring environments. However, petrified wood is most commonly associated with trees that were buried in fine grained sediments of deltas and floodplains or volcanic lahars and ash beds. A forest where such material has petrified becomes known as a petrified forest.

POLISHED Fossil SEPTARIA (Septarian concretions) 1 kg – 5 kg

FOSSIL SEPTARIA POLISHED
Septarian concretions or septarian nodules, are concretions containing angular cavities or cracks, called “septaria”. The word comes from the Latin word septum; “partition”, and refers to the cracks/separations in this kind of rock. Some websites incorrectly derive the term from the Latin word septem, meaning “seven”. Cracks are highly variable in shape and volume, as well as the degree of shrinkage they indicate. Although it has commonly been assumed that concretions grew incrementally from the inside outwards, the fact that radially oriented cracks taper towards the margins of septarian concretions is taken as evidence that in these cases the periphery was stiffer while the inside was softer, presumably due to a gradient in the amount of cement precipitated.

POLISHED FLOURITE 2
Fluorite (also called fluorspar) is a very popular mineral, and it naturally occurs in all colors of the spectrum. It is one of the most varied colored minerals in the mineral kingdom, and the colors may be very intense and almost electric. Pure Fluorite is colorless; the color variations are caused by various impurities. Some colors are deeply colored, and are especially pretty in large well-formed crystals, which Fluorite often forms. Sometimes coloring is caused by hydrocarbons, which can be removed from a specimen by heating. Some dealers may apply oil treatment upon amateur Fluorite specimens to enhance luster.
Fluorite is one of the more famous fluorescent minerals. Many specimens strongly fluoresce, in a great variation of color. In fact, the word “fluorescent” is derived from the mineral Fluorite. The name of the element fluorine is also derived from Fluorite, as Fluorite is by far the most common and well-known fluorine mineral.
Chemical Formula CaF2
Composition Calcium fluoride
Color Fluorite occurs in all colors, including colorless, white, purple, blue, red, pink, orange, yellow, brown, green, gray, and black. May also be multicolored and banded.

POLISHED JASPER OCEAN 1
Jasper is an opaque form of Chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz. It often contains an abundance of impurities, and therefore some regard it as a rock instead of a mineral. Jasper is usually associated with brown, yellow, or reddish colors, but may be used to describe other opaque colors of Chalcedony such as dark or mottled green and orange. Some forms of Jasper are banded, and these banded Jaspers may appear similar to Agate, but unlike Agate they are opaque. When Jasper is dull and lacking interesting colors or patterns, it is not Jasper but rather Chert. Chemical Formula SiO2 Composition Silicon dioxide, usually with impurities of iron oxides or organic substances. Color Brown, yellow, orange, red, green, or blue. May also refer to any form of opaque Chalcedony in all colors. Jasper is usually multicolored or banded. Streak White Hardness 6.5 – 7 Crystal System Hexagonal

POLISHED LABRADORITE LARGE
Labradorite is an unusual mineral. It can display a beautiful iridescent play of colors, caused by internal fractures in the mineral that reflect light back and forth, dispersing it into different colors. This effect, known as labradorescence, gives Labradorite its appeal and fame. Specimens sold to collectors are usually polished or sliced by dealers to fully bring out this effect. Sliced slabs are sometimes sold by dealers in water, which enhances the effect. Labradorite belongs to the Plagioclase Feldspar group, an isomorphous solid solution series. Albite is one member, containing sodium and no calcium. The other end member, Anorthite, contains calcium and no sodium. Labradorite is an intermediary member of this series. Labradorite is considered by some authorities as a variety of Anorthite rather then a separate mineral. Chemical Formula (Ca,Na)Al1-2Si3-2O8 Color White, gray, light blue, light green, pale orange-red, black, usually with a strong multicolored display of purple, blue, and green schillers. Streak White Hardness 6 – 6.5 Crystal System Triclinic
